Adolf Hitler

Adolf Hitler led the newly formed Nationalist Socialist Party from 1933. On the back of extreme economic hardship and made militarily powerless following the First World War, became popular and powerful.

Adolf Hitler's administration, the Third Reich,  pursued a course of domination in Europe and beyond through a fascist based ideology.

Hitler's political alignment with General Franco's right wing Nationalists was set. So when Franco needed a helping hand to subjourgate the left wing Republicans, Hitler was glad to help.

The opportunity also gave the German luftwaffe led by Goring, to further their development in arial bombing which was an emerging development in arial warfare.

Picasso clearly held Hitler as one of the key protagonists to the attack on Guernica. He's positioned here, hidden among the lines in the area of the horse.

Turning the imgage approx 60 degrees clockwise, we can get our bearing from the moustache perhaps. His hair flpped over and concealing his right eye whilst his left eye is visible. The tave of the spear acting as his nose. The depiction is an unsympathetic characature.
